Our friends Jorge (without family, who had abandoned him for Portugal) and the Simmons helped us celebrate our nation's birthday. The weather was warm and dry and a good time was had by all. As the evening progressed, in fact, a better and better time was had by all (grownups, at least), to the point that we all strutted around in silly wigs and quite forgot to go watch the fireworks.
